Board member Dr Helen Chen and her daughter/volunteer Christina Kurohara hosted a charity fundraiser for the Center for Japanese Mental Health this Sunday, February 21, 2016 at their Pasadena home. Friends, community members, and supporters attended to purchase goods and services with proceeds benefiting our charity. Master hairstylist Fredy Arboleda staged a runway show including the latest hair fashions and a flamingo dancer. Classical guitarist Taro Wayama performed musical selections ranging from the Renaissance thru the 20th century including folk and world music while masseuse Alyne Tsuyuki soothed tired bodies with shiatsu and swiss massage. A good time was had by all while supporting a great cause.

Our generous vendors who donated proceeds included:
Freddy Arboleda (women’s hair designs, runway show)
Silpada Designs (women’s silver jewelry)
Graced by Grit (women’s athletic apparel)
Massage by Alyne Tsuyuki (masseuse)
Taro Wayama (classical guitar)
Europane (baked goods)

Please donate to support our 2016 programs and operations! It’s generous donations like yours that enables CJMH to fulfill its mission to improve Japanese mental health.

Dear Donor,

The Center for Japanese Mental Health is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity fulfilling an important role in helping Japanese people whose lives have been impacted by depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, and other life-altering mental illnesses brought upon by the aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake of 2011, work-life imbalance, aging population, decades-long socio-economic stagnation, and other factors unique to Japanese culture and beliefs.

This important work is supported largely by the support of generous donors who contribute to our annual capital campaign. This year’s goal is $300,000, which will allow the Center for Japanese Mental Health to continue providing much needed services to Japanese people who are in need of assistance in the United States and Japan. With the continued support of generous donors like you, CJMH will be able to develop these programs in 2016:

Education & Outreach
Suicide Prevention
Trauma Recovery
Tutoring & Academic Achievement
Career Counseling
Professional Training
Counseling & Classes for Individuals & Couples
Cross-cultural & Multi-ethnic Families
New Mothers & Young Children
Elderly and Their Caretakers
Victims of Crime & Abuse

In order to continue making a difference in the lives of individuals affected by the work of the Center for Japanese Mental Health, it is vital for this year’s capital campaign to be a success. Can we count on you to make a donation to this important cause? By making a tax deductible donation to our capital campaign, you’ll be directly contributing to Japanese people struggling to cope with mental health issues. Additionally, you’ll be recognized for your generosity as a capital campaign supporter on the CJMH website and in the upcoming newsletter.

The Center for Japanese Mental Health is depending on your assistance and generosity. Please make an online donation or contact us to pledge or mail a check. Please be assured that your contribution will be put to good use to provide help to Japanese individuals and families in need. Thank you for your consideration and continued support.

Warmest regards,
