What We Do

CJMH seeks to improve the mental health and well-being of people of Japanese descent, in Japan, the USA, and wherever there are sizable Japanese communities, by

  • de-stigmatizing mental illness and treatment by education and outreach to Japanese communities;
  • development and administration of mental health programs and counseling services;
  • professional development, training and support of mental health providers and caregivers who will in turn better support their communities;
  • charitable giving, at the discretion of the board of directors, to non-profit organizations with similar goals of aiding Japanese communities;
  • providing scholarships to deserving students pursuing masters or doctorate level degrees in mental health related disciplines or interns working towards licensure in a mental health related licensed profession;
  • and research for the furtherance of the preceding goals.
