Our Mission

The Center for Japanese Mental Health was formed in 2014 as a 501(c)(c3) non-profit organization for exclusively charitable and educational purposes. Specifically, CJMH seeks to improve the mental health and well-being of people of Japanese descent, in the USA and abroad, by

  • de-stigmatizing mental illness and treatment by education and outreach to Japanese communities;
  • development and administration of mental health programs and counseling services;
  • professional development, training and support of mental health providers and caregivers who will in turn better support their communities;
  • encouraging and supporting students pursuing masters or doctorate level degrees in mental health related disciplines or interns working towards licensure in a mental health related licensed profession;
  • and research for the furtherance of the preceding goals.
